The following provides a brief overview highlighting our specific experiences in the medical device industry.


LobbyBenBen Smith, President & CEO
Ben is a graduate of Harding University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting. He began his career with E&Y and as a former Certified Public Accountant has broad experience in accounting and management within the manufacturing and service industries. Ben was recognized as the 2007 Bartlett Business Person of the Year and was a 2006 recipient of the Top Forty Under 40 award presented by the Memphis Business Journal honoring local business leaders. His three decades in the business arena afford him a unique perspective and expertise in both process and operations management, which he effectively uses to guide EMS as a leading supplier of medical devices.
 


LobbyMattMatt Lewis, Executive VP/Business Development
Matt joined EMS in 2003. He holds an associate degree in mechanical engineering. He has extensive experience in the medical machining industry manufacturing both prototype and production instruments. Prior to his role as Director of Engineering, Matt excelled in multiple areas of responsibility including: coordinator of manufacturing, process planning, and business development. He has a tremendous passion for learning and the ability to conceptualize complex manufacturing processes. Matt’s ability to efficiently merge our customer’s design concepts with EMS manufacturing expertise has been an invaluable resource.

 
 


CharlesCharles Stanford, Director of Operations
Charles joined EMS in 2010. He is a graduate of Memphis State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting. He was a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) with over 14 years of manufacturing experience in various accounting and finance roles. He joined EMS after six years of experience in financial planning and business development and eight years of experience as corporate controller, including SEC reporting responsibilities.
 
 
 
 


MitchMitch Dean, Director of Quality
Mitch joined EMS in January 2012. He has over 20 years of experience developing quality systems for medical device OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. His skills range from quality engineering and medical device PPAP to development and implementation of quality management systems. Along with being a college graduate, Mitch holds certifications as a Certified Mechanical Inspector with ASQ, a Lead Auditor in ISO 13485, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 as well as other industry certifications.
 
 
 
 


Dwayne Wisham, Director of Regulatory Affairs and ISO Representative
Joining EMS in 2018, Dwayne has over 20 years’ experience implementing Quality Management Systems compliant to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 13485:2016 and AS9100D, standards. He has worked in various industries including, automotive, appliance, home office/business products, and medical devices. He will oversee the Quality Management System, processes critical to support regulatory requirements, and serve as ISO Representative. Dwayne is a Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), with the ASQ, a Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Sterling College.
 
 


Jeff Cobb, Director of Engineering
Jeff joined EMS in July 2020 with over 26 years of Medical Device experience. He has held various Operations roles with industry leading OEMs including: Management, Engineering, Process Development, Validation, Production and Control. Jeff has a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Memphis and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Union University. Jeff is an experienced leader that thrives in developing the talent of his engineering team.
 
 
 
 


Tony Kirby, General Manager
Tony joined EMS in January 2020. Coupled with his bachelor’s degree from Bethel University, he has over 15 years’ experience in the medical device industry supporting global OEM manufacturing as well as Tier 1 supply chain development. Prior to arriving in medical device, he enjoyed 10 years of manufacturing experience in automotive & consumer goods with increasing roles of responsibility. Tony has extensive experience with implant & instrument design engineering and manufacturing as well as prototype manufacturing, validation and process development. He specializes in talent/resource development and utilizes quality, data and relationships to make workforces globally stronger and more efficient.
